My eyes are awake through the night watches, that I may meditate on Your word. — Psalm 119:148 NKJV
Most mornings during treatment, I awoke between three and five o’clock, my mind whirling like a washer on the spin cycle. How did I get here? How has cancer treatment become my life?
Often, I turned on my Kindle and read Scripture. My Lord used those sleepless hours to encourage, strengthen, and calm me. He is faithful. He is good. There is One who is with you in the night watches. Click To Tweet
If you’re in that place, the place of dismay, the place of sleepless nights, be encouraged. There is One who is with you in the night watches. There is One who seeks to draw you close. There is One who loves you with an everlasting love.
Lord, I pray for my sister who is in that place, the place of dismay and sleepless nights. May she sense Your incredible love and presence. May she use the night watches to mediate on Your truth. May You calm her heart, soul, and mind and give her the sweet sleep that only You can provide. In Jesus’ name, amen.
About Hope for the Valley
Hope for the Valley is the ministry God has entrusted to J.K. Stewart—wife, breast cancer survivor, and follower of Jesus Christ. Soon after her diagnosis, she started a women’s cancer support group. Two years later, she launched Hope for the Valley, a website of devotions and prayers for women with cancer. J.K. lives in Texas with her husband, dog, and four cats. When she’s not writing, she’s either studying her Bible, walking her dog, or vacuuming pet hair. Connect with her and the ministry of Hope for the Valley on Facebook, Twitter, or Google+.
