“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” — Matthew 1:23 NKJV
Heavenly Father, thank You for the Christmas season when we celebrate the birth of Your Son, Jesus—Immanuel. But Lord, sometimes the Christmas season is difficult. Treatment, surgeries, and medical bills seem to zap our joy. The most wonderful time of the year isn’t so great. In fact, sometimes we just want Christmas to be over. Lord, if this reader is in this place, encourage her. Lift her spirit, replace her discouragement with Your joy, and help her to rest in You. In Christ’s name, amen.
About Hope for the Valley
Hope for the Valley is the ministry God has entrusted to J.K. Stewart—wife, breast cancer survivor, and follower of Jesus Christ. Soon after her diagnosis, she started a women’s cancer support group. Two years later, she launched Hope for the Valley, a website of devotions and prayers for women with cancer. J.K. lives in Texas with her husband, dog, and four cats. When she’s not writing, she’s either studying her Bible, walking her dog, or vacuuming pet hair. Connect with her and the ministry of Hope for the Valley on Facebook, Twitter, or Google+.
