God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. — Psalm 46:1
My husband and I sat at a table at the restaurant, waiting for our number to be called. Neither of us said much. We were on our way home from the hospital where I’d had a breast MRI. Dread hovered like a yellow jacket at a 4th of July picnic. Now what?
I watched others laugh and visit over lunch. My life stopped. Their lives moved forward. I went to doctors’ appointments. They took vacations. I faced surgery. They shopped for school supplies. Life wasn’t fair.
Ever feel like that?
God has a plan for each of us, and sometimes it includes hardship and suffering. But He doesn’t leave us to navigate trials on our own. No, He leads, comforts, and encourages us each step of the way.God is your refuge and strength. Click To Tweet
No matter what you’re facing, God is your refuge and strength. Yes, He is a very present help in trouble.
Take comfort in this.
Lord, I pray for this reader as she faces the unknown. Her heart may ache. She may be worried or filled with fear. But all praise to You, Father, for You are with her. You haven’t left her alone, Your rod and Your staff, they comfort her. May she rest in Your presence, goodness, and faithfulness. In Your Son’s name I pray, amen.
About Hope for the Valley
Hope for the Valley is the ministry God has entrusted to J.K. Stewart—wife, breast cancer survivor, and follower of Jesus Christ. Soon after her diagnosis, she started a women’s cancer support group. Two years later, she launched Hope for the Valley, a website of devotions and prayers for women with cancer. J.K. lives in Texas with her husband, dog, and four cats. When she’s not writing, she’s either studying her Bible, walking her dog, or vacuuming pet hair. Connect with her and the ministry of Hope for the Valley on Facebook, Twitter, or Google+.
