Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit. — Psalm 51:12
Sometimes, I allow my cares to steal my joy. The day-in and day-out drudgery of life can drag me down, if I let it.
Yesterday, I read Psalm 51. A prayer of repentance, this psalm was written by David after his sin with Bathsheba. Verse 12 jumped out at me. “Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit.”
Lord, I need the joy of Your salvation.
Uphold me by Your generous Spirit.

How about I pray for you?
Father, so often our cares, concerns, and worries drag us down. We lose the joy You give us through Your salvation. May we remember what You accomplished for us through Your Son. Jesus, thank You for paying the price for our sins. Thank You for suffering in our place so we may have eternal life. And Lord, if this reader has lost her joy, I pray You will restore in her the joy of Your salvation. Uphold her by Your generous Spirit. In Your name, amen.
